SUMMARY:Planning of Norwalk’s 2018 master plan (POCD)
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSilvermine and Broad River residents will have an opportunity to contribute to the future of our community and city by participating in the planning of Norwalk’s 2018 master plan (POCD) \nWhat’s a POCD? \nCT mandates that every city provide a Plan for Conservation and Development\, (POCD) every 10 years. Norwalk’s current POCD was created and approved in 2008. However\, past administrations\, the city’s governance\, allowed that POCD to be bypassed in favor of uncoordinated development projects changing the nature of the city. That disregard will continue if we do not actively participate as a community! We need you! \n  \nThe City’s lack of a comprehensive inclusive “PLAN” that reflects stakeholder’s views can be rectified by our active participation in the current 2018 POCD. \nCurrent POCD ’18 status: \nConsulting firm Stantec has been hired to organize and professionally package the current POCD. \n1: A city steering committee\, appointed by the Mayor meets with and coordinates Stantec’s activities \n2: Each of Norwalk’s “regional” communities have been requested to consider their decade (2018 -2028) aspirations for Norwalk’s social\, cultural and economic future. \n(Our community includes Broad River and Silvermine) \n3: Stantec with Steven Kleppin\, (Norwalk’s Director of P&Z)\, plan outreach meetings with each community on several occasions during the next several months. \n4: To get the ball rolling in our community\, we plan to hold a local POCD briefing meeting on Monday December 4th (7:30 – 9:00 PM) in the Community Room in City Hall. \n The Agenda will include\, POCD’s purpose\, history and critical issues related to implementation                 \n5:                                   This is our opportunity to be heard! \n                  Namely\, “What kind of City do you want to live in?” \n6: Please confirm your interest by emailing ANeaderland@gmail.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSincerely\, \nAdolph Neaderland\,  VP NASH \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n
